‘Ah, the man she wanted all her life was hanging by a thread. ” I never even knew how much I wanted you” she said. His muscles they were numbered and his style was obsolete.

When people ask me how I come up with a formula for a new perfume, I’m not sure I know myself. It’s like a wild bird that sings only when nobody’s watching. In a way, perfumery is like other creative processes, such as writing or painting, where you might have a theme or know what colours you’re going to use, but where there’s still that element of magic and it just comes out of you. Sure, creating a fragrance involves equations and formulas…but at its heart it’s an emotional process, evoking all sorts of things.A Life in the Day: Daniela Andrier, the UK Times Online.

The dream perfume is one that can be smelled and experienced in the moment, for the time of one inhalation, but not one to be worn. It is not an ornament, or an item of clothing, nor is it a protection. It is pure emotion. This concept might be confusing because imagining a perfume in this way takes us outside its usual codes. I dream up a perfume as a poetic offering, a ‘sudden ravishing delight of unpredictability’ in the words of haiku-writers, who reveal the unknown at the very heart of the familiar.

Christopher Brosius is a pioneer in the world of modern perfumery. I respect him tremendously because he is daringly creative, unapologetic and just down-right straight up about it alll….and superbly talented to boot!
I can’t wait to smell his latest creation!
Check out a glimpse into his world….

We are like painters: some use simple colors, others prefer sophisticated ones. It’s the result that matters”.Guy Robert - May you rest in peace. We have lost a perfume legend.

Yann Vasnier on the making and the mystery of perfume. I had the wonderful opportunity to meet him at Sniffapalooza’s Fall Ball 2011 (two seconds really, I stumbled my words and I’m sure he thought I was nuts!)
I am truly happy that the fragrance world is getting some recognition and that in turn, perfumers have become more open and receptive to bringing people into their wonderful world of scent.
Mr. Vasnier is a very talented perfumer, you can smell his creations almost anywhere (Marc Jacobs, Arquiste, Divine etc…) and an inspiration to me.
Listen, enjoy and keep smelling!

Kalmunity - Montreal based artists (Video)
This is Kalmunity. A community filled with people who are passionate about spoken word poetry. They do it every Tuesday @Bombards. It’s all improv!!
I’ve seen one of their live performances and I have to say, it was the best experience of my life. I can’t believe they occupied Montreal without me knowing at the time! This is the kind of inspiration I need in my life. I love it when people speak out poetically to the world! I can see myself doing something like this one day.
